What are solar pv panels?

Have you ever used a calculator for as long as you can remember without ever having to put batteries in it? If your answer to this question is yes, you have gained first-hand experience with the functioning of solar energy. Solar cells which use the rays of the sun to generate energy are increasingly becoming a part of our everyday lives.

Solar energy utilizes photovoltaic panels commonly known as solar pv cells. The world photovoltaic means light and electricity. As the meaning of its name suggest, photovoltaic cells converts sunlight into electrical power. The combination of solar cells in photovoltaic panels results in the production of electrical power which can be used in many different forms in our daily lives. Solar energy has been used in calculators, street sights, spot lights and water heaters.

Due to the fact that the amount of sunlight varies from region to region, sunny areas tend to obtain more solar energy than other areas. However, in order for solar energy to be fully utilized, the solar pv panel needs to be angled in such a position that it will be able to capture most of the sunlight. The power of solar energy is so strong in that only eight kilowatt per square meter of solar energy is needed to power an entire residence. This is equaled to 10 square meters of solar pv panels.

Covering the entire roof of a residence using a pv array would generate sufficient energy to meet all of the consumption needs of that residence. When it comes to saving energy costs, solar pv panels are a great alternative due to the fact that sunlight is free and environment friendly as well. Using solar pv panels in your homes can help you to reduce your power bill and to reduce carbon dioxide emissions which results in air pollution.

Did u know that if the uninhabited areas of the Sahara Desert were covered in solar panels , the amount of solar energy that would be created would be almost forty-seven times the total amount of power that the is utilized by the entire world at any given point! How awesome is that!
