The Green Mark Scheme

The scheme acts as is cost-effective and straightforward tool to assist businesses in making improvements in environmental performance. Once these improvements have been made businesses are independently assessed before being given the award certificate and logo to use as evidence of good practice. The award scheme has three levels, the third of which is an ISO 14001 pre certification level.

The system is unique as all companies regardless of size and nature can implement Level 1 and then choose to move forward through one or both routes focussing on EMS or Sustainability Best Practice.

Green Mark is effective because it is simple to understand and communicate, both internally and externally, with clear and achievable requirements that are verified. The scheme has been developed to be equally applicable to micro, multi-site or multinational businesses.
